The Global Prayer Movement Is Alive and Well

This month I had the honor of leading worship at an IPC leaders summit in Canada with a few dozen leaders of national prayer networks from around the world (see photos below). These networks represent millions of believers.
As I heard reports from Indonesia, Nigeria, Australia, India, South Africa and beyond, it became increasingly clear to me:
The global prayer movement is alive and well.
Thousands of churches and groups are uniting to cry out to God with prayer and worship like never before. At this very moment, as you read this, there are hundreds of people who are praying as part of a 24/7 prayer chain or 24/7 house of prayer.
Recent scandals among key church leaders in America make it seem like “the Church” or the “prayer movement” is struggling. As westerners, we might think that what’s happening here reflects the entire body of Christ. We tend to be disconnected from the global picture.
And while we need to take these scandals seriously, examine our own hearts and respond accordingly, it would also help us to remember that the Church consists of worshipers from every tribe, tongue and nation - not just America. The prayer movement is not an American movement, it is a global phenomenon.
As I continue to pursue the Presence Pioneers mission to connect, equip & plant presence-centered communities, I’m encouraged that the biblical promise of worship and prayer arising “in every place” is becoming more and more of a reality every day!
For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts. Malachi 1:11
