A New Prayer Room in Colombia

Earlier this year I got an email out of the blue:

"I'm Mateo from Colombia. A year ago God called me to start a prayer movement in Colombia... A great friend of mine from Brazil recommended your book The Tabernacle of David. This book really changed my life, in my church we started a prayer meeting and now we have a ministry called house of prayer...."

This month, I have had a few video calls with Mateo, a young man in his early 20’s, to discuss what God’s doing in his small baptist church outside of Bogota. After his parents divorced a few years ago, he began a descent into depression, drunkenness and drug abuse.

God radically encountered Mateo in his bedroom one night, and now he feels called to stir up prayer in his nation. They have started a prayer room at the church, the Holy Spirit is moving (some are now speaking in tongues at the baptist church!) and Mateo was recently invited by the pastor to teach one Sunday morning about David’s tabernacle.

A few more exciting updates:

• I have recently helped connect Mateo with other houses of prayer in Colombia (some of you will remember that I visited there a few years ago).

• Mateo’s church is going to print copies of my David’s Tabernacle book in Spanish and distribute them throughout Colombia.

• They also have a connection to a translator who is going to translate Enjoying Prayer into Spanish as well.

I took a writing retreat this month to Dunn, NC, the site of the “Azusa East” revival in the early 1900s, when the Azusa St pentecostal movement came to the east coast. Hopefully this is the start of a book on the topic of revival.

This month we recorded our first Presence Pioneers video course, 14 sessions of Bible teaching based on my Enjoying Prayer book. We are also publishing an Enjoying Prayer Bible study guide, which will be included with the course or available separately. The course is currently being edited and will be released later this year.

It’s springtime at the Lilley family “homestead.” Vegetables are growing, flowers are blooming, chickens are laying eggs and the mulberry trees are overflowing with berries. Here’s our daughter Shiloh with one of the baby bunnies.
